Photo Print: Walking Home by Ben McRae

This image was taken whilst I was conducting one of my personalised photographic tours in Botswana. The Chobe River was higher than I had ever seen it, so I was unable to access the large open river bank that usually see\'s hundreds upon hundreds of thirsty elephants coming in to drink in the dry afternoon heat. I did however find a nice open river bank deeper inside the park. As soon as we pulled up killed the 4x4\'s engine we were surrounded by a large herd of approaching elephants. They drank, played and bathed only meters from our vehicle and allowed us a chance to shoot some truly amazing images at close range, but suddenly the herd were disturbed by an approaching bull elephant that mumma matriarch did not seem to tolerate too much, she decided it was time to leave and time to round up her family and move on. Within an instant the herd turned and came straight towards us, pulled in single file and squeezed through the 3 meters between our truck and the river, leaving us breathless and in awe, before again fanning back out into a protecting herd and running off into the sunset.
